One of the reasons I have my workshop participants begin the discipline of meditation and entering into the Stillness is so that by the time we have reached this fifth new moon, they are well into training to become discerning listeners. The first discernment is listening to one’s body. Body knowing is the practice and realm of the Seer and who Lynn Andrew’s has called the Ecstatic Rainbow Mother. She is a psychic in the sense that she is incredibly attuned to listening to her body.
Is the sacred inherent in the act of being a witness? If you are truthful in examining what you have witnessed, what is revealed?
My indigenous teachers cautioned me about those who have the “missionary zeal”. Thus, I shy away from rules, dogma, and what is supposed to be. I tell my students to live their own truth.
It is the discerning ability to trust in yourself (through much practice and discipline) that determines what kind of a seer you will become.
A Seer is an extraordinary woman. She is a visionary. She is a lucid “dreamer”. She has body knowing which enables her to be an oracle. She knows which path to take because she “sees” what lies ahead.
The 13 Feminine Truths workshop is a place where the truth of the feminine–the strong and powerful intuitive, introspective, impressions, visions, and body awareness that exists in the non-ordinary reality–is validated and placed into context within our daily lives.
If we learn to pay attention and become discerning “Seers”, we may use this knowledge to help us choose our Paths With Heart.
One of the best ways to become a discerning “Seer” is to develop a positive attitude to become impeccably aware of habits and/or habitual responses and then change them.
I teach my students that a little “tweaking” of one habit may have a profound effect or provide new insight. It definitely alters perception.
The only person we may change is oneself.
The 4th New Moon of 2012 appeared on Saturday and today I reread the chapter on the immortal grandmother moon, “Looks Far Woman”, from Jamie Sams book, The 13 Original Clan Mothers, in preparation for my 13 Feminine Truths class tomorrow.
I LOVE this grandmother and everything that she stands for, but mostly, I am reminded that everything that we have is within us if we just trust it. Learning to trust what we see within takes a lot of discipline and study. But when we have learned to discern and discriminate what is true from illusion, all the answers reside in nature and will appear to us. That is true magic.
